Queer Lisboa is, for the first time, present at the Arraial Pride, both in the Bar and Associations area. 10th to the 17th June, Salvador, Brazil
Queer Lisboa is collaborating with the 3rd Mostra Possíveis Sexualidades, to take place between the 10th and the 17th June in the city of Salvador, in Brazil.
After having presented Portuguese filmmaker Óscar Alves’ films at Da Sodoma a Hollywood – 23rd Turin LGBT Film Festival, in 2008, our focus on Portuguese cinema at the Mostra Possíveis Sexualidades will again be on the 1970’s, with a series of titles screened at our 11th and 12th editions of Queer Lisboa: Aventuras e Desventuras de Julieta Pipi (1978, 44’), by Óscar Alves; Solidão Povoada (1976, 45’), by Óscar Alves; Good-Bye, Chicago (1978, 16’), by Óscar Alves; Fatucha Superstar – Ópera Rock… Bufa (1976, 43’), by João Paulo Ferreira; and Os Demónios da Liberdade (1976, 20’), by João Paulo Ferreira.
From the 10th to the 13th, the screenings will take place at the Caixa Cultural Salvador; and from the 11th to the 17th, at the Saladearte circuit. For more information, please visit the website.
Espaço da Memória / Queer Memory 2010 | 19/5/2010
From the 18th to the 24th September 2010
Queer Memory is back in 2010 with seven days of thematic activities: Queer Words, Our Divas, I Once Knew…, Sounds Queer, Commenting the Classics, Showcase, Challenging the Audience. Queer Memory is a multidisciplinary event which intersects visual arts, music, cinema, literature, theatre, dance and performing arts in general.
In 2010, for the Our Divas activity we honour the iconic persona of Marlene Dietrich. In this context, we will screen, in Theatre 1 of Cinema São Jorge, the feature “Morocco”, directed by Josef von Sternberg (1930), in a 35mm print gently lent by the Portuguese Cinematheque. This is a historic and emblematic film, not only because it’s Dietrich’s first north-American cinema venture, but also for its infamous cabaret sequence in which the actress, dresses as a man, kisses one of the female punters on the lips (seminal queer cinema scene).
Soon we will have more news on the Queer Memory activities.
