Queer Porto 11: Jury & Guests

Introducing the six elements that will be part of the two official juries of the 11th edition of Queer Porto:

 

The jury for the Official Competition is composed of RTP producer and director Adriano Nazareth, transdisciplinary artist Aura da Fonseca, and producer and filmmaker Catarina de Sousa.

 

For the Casa Comum Award, the jury will be made up by Anabela Santos, cultural communications advisor at the University of Porto, Jorge Peixoto Freitas, clinical psychologist and psychotherapist, and Telmo Fernandes, researcher in sociology and psychology.

 

Also, Queer Porto 11 will be attended by a significant number of guests, including directors and other professionals from the cinema industry:

 

In the Official Competition, we will be joined by director Gerard Oms, who will present Away.


In the Casa Comum Award, filmmakers such as Alex Simões (The Insect Graveyard), Caio Amado Soares (Mishaps in Spacetime), Fá Maria (Erasure), and Juliana Julieta (The Immovable Structure) will be in attendance. Actress Francisca Manuel will also be present to represent Stéphanie Ricci's film Those Who Move, as will actor Ivo Arroja and actress Inês Castel-Branco to represent Justin Amorim's film Flying Carpet.


Also noteworthy are Ana Cristina Santos and Nuno Barbosa, who will present their documentary Outlasting - Living Archives of Older Queers in a special session; Emily Packer, filmmaker responsible for Holding Back the Tide (in the Queer Focus section); Raghed Charabaty, filmmaker of the film Aliens in Beirut (Queer Resistance); and for most of the team behind this edition's opening film, Two Times João Liberada: producer Cristiana Cruz Forte, actors Caio Amado Soares and Tiago Aires Lêdo, Fresco Mafalda, who is the film's director of photography, and Eloísa d'Ascensão, who is responsible for art direction.


The conversations and debates, which will take place at the Casa Comum da Reitoria da Universidade do Porto and Passos Manuel, will feature several guests: Cristina Planas Leitão, Luísa Cativo, Mofo Collective (Sasha & Boji), and Aura da Fonseca, among other guests yet to be confirmed.

 

We will also welcome several guests, part of Daniel Pinheiro's personal and emotional circle, who will join the “Carte Blanche” tribute: thus, Blue, by Derek Jarman, will be presented by artist and professor Laetitia Morais and by curator, researcher, and performance artist Xavier de Sousa; Terror Nullius, by Soda Jerk, will be presented by cultural economist and professor Fátima São Simão and visual artist Sérgio Braz d'Almeida; Fluidø, by Shu Lea Cheang, will be presented by multidisciplinary artist Flávio Rodrigues, and Passion, by Maja Ray Borg, will be presented by Samuel Guimarães, who works at the intersection of education, landscape, and theater.
