As the Ranas - a happily patriarchal joint family - yearn for the birth of a baby boy to continue the family line, their youngest son secretly joins an erotic dance theatre and falls for an ambitious trans starlet. Their supposedly impossible love story slowly illuminates the entire Rana family’s desire for a sexual rebellion.

Saim Sadiq is a Pakistani filmmaker. He graduated in Anthropology at the Lahore University of Management Sciences and has a master’s from the Columbia University School of the Arts. His thesis film at Columbia, Darling, explored the universe of trans dancers, and won the Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film at the Venice Film Festival, in 2019. His first feature film, Joyland, won the Jury Prize of the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival 2022, so as the Queer Palm.
